The Eden Project is Cornwall's latest attraction and deservedly popular. Try to time your visit early or late to avoid queues. May be enjoyed whatever the weather.
Falmouth is the world's third largest natural harbour with a working shipyard, dock and small beaches. Pendennis castle was built by Henry VIII and commands a panoramic view of the bay and Fal estuary. From Prince of Wales pier take a boat trip up the Helford River or a ferry to Flushing, St Mawes or Truro. Also visit the popular 'interactive' National Maritime Museum
The Lizard peninsula lies to the south of Helston (famous for the 'Furry' dance and the Blue Anchor pub which brews its own 'Spingo' ale). There are many spots along the coast here to visit such as Cadgwith Cove, Coverack, Lizard town, Kynance Cove, Mullion & Porthleven, as well as the attractions of the National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek, Flambards Theme Park & Goonhilly Earthstation. Bisecting the Lizard flowing west to east, the Helford river is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt in the country - a marine conservation area. Visit the gardens of Glendurgan and Trebah on its northern bank and lunch at the Ferryboat Inn or the Shipwright's Arms (a short passenger ferry ride away).
Newquay is the surfing capital with superb beaches. Very popular in the summer with young people, with plenty of fast food & nightlife. Cornwall's only zoo and aquarium (Blue Reef) are here.
Penzance boasts the mildest climate, pleasant municipal gardens, fascinating museum and art gallery. Stroll by the harbour and along the promenade to Newlyn or Marazion where you can cross the causeway or catch the ferry to St Michael's Mount.
Roseland peninsula with its picturesque villages such as Veryan, St Just & St Mawes, and the fishing cove of Porthscatho lies just across the Fal. Past Trelissick NT gardens at Feock take the King Harry car ferry.
St Ives houses the Tate Art gallery and Barbara Hepworth museum plus many galleries, shops and some trendy restaurants, not forgetting the harbour and beaches which make it very popular in the summer.
Truro is the Cornwall's only city and the administrative centre, home of Cornwall's only cathedral. Good for shopping and dining with music and theatre at the Hall for Cornwall.
